The Fire Station (TFS) operates as a series of Marijuana Establishments within the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. TFS holds valid state and municipal operating licenses and strives to exceed compliance standards at the highest level. Beginning in 2019 with less than ten employees, our business is now growing rapidly and welcomes new employees who are interested in a career in the cannabis industry. As a Marijuana Retail Establishment, our operations involve welcoming customers 21 + years of age into our establishment to view and purchase high quality marijuana products. A team of employees all work together to provide customers with top notch customer service and cannabis knowledge to aid them in their cannabis experience. 

Job Title: Assistant Manager (Curbside Only)

Please note: The Fire Station Cannabis Co. Niles, Michigan will be curbside only operations for the foreseeable future with our goal to have an in-store experience at a later date. Due to curbside operations, this is a dynamic position involving a variety of responsibilities that may shift throughout the day. Duties include order taking, fulfillment, cashiering, receiving, curbside assistance, and other operational support to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Job Description 

Roles - Assistant Managers assist the General Manager with performing essential management oversight, cash counting functions, team leadership, product handling, and product tracking. They are key holders, and have the ability to open and close the store by themselves when the general manager is not available to do so. More directly involved in managing staff and handling customer issues or complaints.

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for basic level oversight of staff both when the general manager is present, and when they are gone. 
  • Assistant managers are keyholders to open the facility if a general manager is not present
  • Handling customer disputes; approving of unique/mistake transactions
  • Be prepared and capable of performing general managerial duties in case GM is not present
  • Directly report to the general manager and report any updates, incidents, or concerns that they may have while working on the sales floor and reception area. 
  • Enforce company policies, rules and expectation amongst staff throughout operational hours
  • Directly enforce and monitor the completion of staff duties and checklists
  • Directly involved in staff training and development
  • If necessary, the assistant managers will cover any position when staff take their work breaks or if a staff member did not show for work
  • When there is heavy foot traffic, assistant managers will aid in the direct operations where needed the most
  • Ensure that security, reception, and budtender staff members are in their positions at the start of each shift, and are there to assist them if any issues with technology, inventory, or sales arise. 
  • Actively involved in accepting product shipments, importing inventory, maintaining inventory storage areas and communicating with packers on quantity of products
  • Oversee restocking activities when products run low on the sales floor, and assist other staff members with the reporting of movement from the storage room into the budroom in Dutchie.
  • When permitted, perform cash drops and other cash handling duties
  • Occasionally asked to train new TFS staff on policies, procedures, and job shadowing

Education & Experience 

  • Associates Degree in Business Management, Communications or Public Relations, Marketing or related fields is preferred
  • Must have 2+ years of previous management experience in cannabis retail
  • Experience using POS systems
  • Must possess adequate cannabis knowledge

Work Environment 

  • State & Municipal Law - TFS operates in full compliance with all rules and regulations enforced by the State of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and Marihuana Regulatory Agency (MRA). Further, TFS operates in full compliance with the rules and regulations of each municipality they are located within. To operate in compliance with such rules and regulations, employees are required to follow all policies created and enforced by and within TFS facilities. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of lifting, walking 
  • Curbside operations involve tasks that require physical stamina and the ability to maintain a high level of energy over an extended period. This includes standing, walking, and brisk movements to assist customers with their orders.
  • Will be required to perform job duties outside of the facility in potentially inclement weather during curbside services. 

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Must have NO felony convictions
  • Satisfactory background Check
  • Valid form of government issued photo identification 
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time

Work Schedule

  • Full time (up to 40+ hour work week)
  • Normal working hours (location-dependent): estimated to be 9am - 9 pm
  • Must be able to be available to handle time sensitive situations outside of regular work schedule
  • Works Holidays & Weekends

Pay starting at $20.00 per hour plus tips
