Job Title:  Regional Facilities Technician

Job Description 

The Regional Facilities Technician is responsible for comprehensive inspection, maintenance, building upkeep, equipment assembly/installations, and general repairs on properties in Marquette County and retail locations throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with additional support and travel to outside of the current region as needed.  This position is a blend of hands-on maintenance, proactive preventative care, and vendor/contractor coordination when appropriate.  The technician will respond to calls, texts, and work orders regarding equipment failures, maintenance issues and will perform work order requests, schedule and perform preventative maintenance, assist with store launches and other projects as needed. Travel is required 12 months of the year. 

Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine and ongoing building maintenance duties as needed 
  • Respond promptly to work order requests and emergency calls, including after hours urgent needs
  • Conduct general building maintenance and repairs in areas including but not limited to:
    • Plumbing - toilets, sinks, faucets, caulking, clogs
    • Carpentry - doors, molding, cabinets, shelving, flooring, countertops
    • Drywall - patching, painting, staining
    • Electrical - interior and exterior light figure 
    • Grounds & Landscaping - occasional repair of walkways, stairs, fences, light masonry, etc.
    • Exterior - siding, painting
  • Assemble and install shelving units, wall brackets, display cases and furniture items
  • Inspect, plan and schedule preventative maintenance and upkeep to ensure properties are well maintained and presentable
  • Ensure properties are consistent with health and safety standards and local regulations
  • Effectively communicate with management and store staff regarding work order status, project updates, and facility inspection reports
  • Assist with the delegation of  job orders to licensed contractors for specialized issues beyond the scope of in-house capabilities (e.g., complex HVAC, major electrical, roofing).
  • Assist with the coordination and management of external contractors for larger maintenance, repair, and capital improvement projects.
  • Contact contractors, collect bids, and provide recommendations for solutions on a variety of interior, exterior, and landscaping projects.

Education & Experience 

  • High school education required, higher education preferred
  • Possess knowledge and experience in various building trades including: janitorial, general plumbing and electrical, drywall, carpentry, masonry
  • Minimum 3 years experience with facility maintenance 

Work Environment 

  • State & Municipal Law - TFS operates in full compliance with all rules and regulations enforced by the State of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and Marihuana Regulatory Agency (MRA). Further, TFS operates in full compliance with the rules and regulations of each municipality they are located within. To operate in compliance with such rules and regulations, employees are required to follow all policies created and enforced by and within TFS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Frequent stooping, crouching and kneeling
  • Standing, walking and/or sitting for extended periods
  • Moderate climbing, balancing, crawling, reaching and lifting 
  • May have to perform job duties outside of the facility in all types of weather

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age 
  • Must have NO felony convictions
  • Satisfactory Background Check and two references
  • Valid Driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel throughout the Upper Peninsula 12 months a year, a facilities van will be provided

Work Schedule

  • Minimum 40 hours per week 
  • The majority of work is hands on, which requires being on the road to various facilities. 
  • Office workspace provided to complete clerical tasks and reports as required
